The Bounce TV network announced it will cease airing reruns of the iconic 1980s sitcom “The Cosby Show” in the wake of Bill Cosby’s conviction on three counts of sexual assault.
“Effective immediately, Bounce is removing ‘The Cosby Show’ from our schedule,” the network said Thursday in a statement.
Earlier that day, Cosby was found guilty of sexually assaulting former Temple University employee Andrea Constand during a 2004 incident at his Philadelphia-area home. He faces up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced later this year.
Bounce, which bills itself as “the first 24/7 digital multicast broadcast network created to target African Americans,” was founded in 2011 by civil rights activists Martin Luther King III and Andrew Young.
Reruns of “A Different World” — also created by the maligned comedian and actor in the ’80s — remains on Bounce’s current broadcast schedule.
