D.C. Offers Free Taxi Rides for Veterans

An initiative launched this week by D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser allows free taxi rides for veterans with annual incomes less than $30,000.

The “Vets Ride” pilot program, which will support the transportation needs of District veterans, is a collaboration between the Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs and the Department of For-Hire Vehicles.

The project enables eligible veterans access to medical treatment and/or appointments, educational opportunities and employment.
