Superstar comedian and actor Eddie Murphy, currently working on the “Coming to America” sequel, also plans to embark on a stand-up comedy tour in 2020.
The “Saturday Night Live” alum recently confirmed his intent during a recent Netflix podcast, “next year I am going to tour, do some standup,” according to Billboard magazine.
Murphy’s revelation comes on the heels of the announcement of his long-awaited return to “SNL,” the comedy arena where his stellar career launched 35 years ago. Murphy will make an appearance on the show on Dec. 21.
Meanwhile, the “Beverly Hills Cop” star has also been doing business with Netflix for an upcoming biopic, “Dolemite Is My Name,” slated for an Oct. 25 release. The film tells the true story of blaxploitation-era comedian and actor Rudy Ray Moore and his kung fu-fighting alter ego, Dolemite. The movie also stars Keegan-Michael Key, Mike Epps, Craig Robinson and Wesley Snipes.
“Coming 2 America” is scheduled to hit theaters next August.
