Fair-Housing Advocates Sue HUD Chief Ben Carson

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson is being sued by three groups of fair-housing advocates over suspension of an Obama-era rule that mandated communities to draft plans to desegregate or risk losing federal dollars.

The lawsuit, filed late Monday, accuses Carson — who in a 2015 op-ed criticized federal government efforts to desegregate neighborhoods across the country as “failed socialist experiments” — of violating fair housing standards.

The groups claim Carson unlawfully suspended the rule by not providing proper public notice or a chance for public comment
