THE RELIGION CORNER: Did Your Mouth Cause That?

How many of you know family, friends and co-workers who speak death much more often than life?

You hear them saying things like, “You all have got to get these tickets sold — it would be a shame to have our guests show up next month to an empty room!”

When they said “empty room,” that’s when they spoke death into the equation. In fact, it is the law of attraction.

Scripture says, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” How could the aforementioned comment been said by speaking life?

Here’s how: “You all, thank each of you for taking so many tickets! Looks like we will have a full house, our guest speaker will be delighted! You all have outdone yourselves!”

Never, ever speak to the negative! Give God a chance! Trust Him! Listen to your guidance from the Holy Spirit.

When you try to sell the tickets without God’s help, you are doing things your own way. As Proverbs 3 says, when you ask God to order your steps, or to lean not on your own understanding, and in all your ways acknowledge him, He will direct your path.

Some of us may take the long way around, but if we continue to obey God, even if it takes 40 years the way it did Moses, we will get to the promised land!

Scripture tells us how he could have gotten there in a much shorter time. In fact, it was as if he was almost there, but he took the wrong road.

An example is when one drives back to Maryland, like Gaithersburg or Frederick, Maryland, it’s fastest to get off 95 North at Tysons Corner in Virginia. You can keep driving on 95, but you will now have to come up the 495 Beltway from the bottom, beginning near the drawbridge. You will now have to drive all the way up the highway to eventually reach Silver Spring, then Rockville and on to Gaithersburg and Frederick.

You have now added almost an extra hour to your trip. Whereas if you had taken that Tysons Corner exit, you would’ve rolled right into signs that take you to Rockville, Gaithersburg and Frederick, and in much better time.

My point: you will reach your destination either way, but why act like Moses and take 40 years when it could have been done in two to five years?

Why this example? Once you begin to speak life, then allow the Holy Spirit to show you the best route to take. We must speak life, then trust and believe by doing all those things the Holy Spirit is pouring into your mind.

Listen, take heed to His voice as he provides guidance, and continue to speak life! Then reaching your destination will take a much shorter period of time.

Don’t allow those negative words you’ve been speaking hinder your progress! Life and death is indeed in the power of the tongue!
