Today in America, we are experiencing racism that feels like days of the Civil War. Unfortunately, the escalation of racism has catapulted under this president. Unfortunately, he is synchronizing with those who long for a “whites-only” America.
Psalm 139:13-18 says, “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” This Scripture reminds us how we are covered while in the womb of our mothers.
Join Rev. Sylvia Sumter, senior pastor of Unity of Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. as she hosts “Stand Up for Humanity” at the historic Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, calling for people of all faiths and backgrounds to come together in the spirit of mutual respect for one another to shift the consciousness of America and gather in the name of humanity. Everyone is asked to bring a light.
Spiritual leaders from around world will create an opportunity for people to bring their light — literally and figuratively — to the nation’s capital.
“The purpose and mission of ‘Stand Up for Humanity’ is to create a global effort to raise the collective consciousness by honoring and taking a stand for all people,” Sumter said. “We are here to help each other connect and act from our universal and common good, and to raise the consciousness and vibration on the planet, and throughout our nation, to one of inclusion, peace, and harmony.”
The event will feature great music, prayers, a sacred lighting ceremony, and an opportunity to create a unifying and healing field of consciousness.
“Stand Up for Humanity” will assemble a range of diverse spiritual leaders and luminary speakers, including Marianne Williamson, author, activist and 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful; Rev. Donna Johnson, CEO of Unity WorldWide Ministries; Rev. Paulette Pipe, Radio Host; Rev. Kevin Ross, senior minister at Unity of Sacramento; Ambassador Mussie Hailu of United Religions Initiative; Paul Luftenegger, award-winning singer-songwriter; BK Mruthyunjaya, executive director of Brahma Kumaris; and many more.
Given the divisiveness and expressions of hatred, intolerance, bigotry, fighting and war taking place in our beloved country and world, the time has come for all persons of good conscience to stand up for humanity. One small positive action taken by an individual can make a difference and contribute to the uplifting of humanity. What is the gift you will offer?
Unity of Washington, D.C. is a center for spiritual growth and dynamic transformation, where people discover the joy of living, loving, and serving through the understanding and application of the Spiritual Principles of Truth.
You are invited to participate in this annual event! My closing Scripture is Deuteronomy 22:4 ESV: “You shall not see your brother’s donkey or his ox fallen down by the way and ignore them. You shall help him to lift them up again.”
