Joe’s Gourmet, an Atlanta-based food-products company, has embarked on a national expansion following its appearances on ABC’s “Shark Tank” and “Good Morning America.”
The family-owned business — founded in 2015 by Joe Dowell, his wife Maranda, and his parents, Joseph and Patricia — offers savory and flavorful breading mixes used to bake or fry seafood, chicken and vegetables. The products are sold in major U.S. supermarket chains including Publix, Giant Eagle, Walmart, Kroger, Meijer and Stop N Shop.
“Persistence is everything when getting your product in stores,” Maranda Dowell said. “Your passion for your product can be shown through persistence, and that passion will be contagious to your buyer.”
While brick-and-mortar sales are the key to growing Joe’s Gourmet brand, the company is also focusing on e-commerce.
“Our brand is growing faster than our retail reach [and] online sales have increased by 500 percent,” Joe Dowell said. “It’s been a real sense of fulfillment that this product launched, hit supermarkets and is a national product. This is my dream, this is my passion project, and it is great to share this experience with my family.”
