NASA has honored Katherine Johnson by dedicating a new research building in her name on their campus.

Johnson, a Black mathematician and one of the inspirations for the hit movie “Hidden Figures,” received the honor on Sept. 22

The facility, officially named the Katherine G. Johnson Computational Research Facility, will house the research and development that will support NASA’s future exploration missions.

Built on the Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, the 37,000-square-foot building is worth $23 million.
